Spray Tan Pre and Post Care Instructions
PRE-TAN INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1 (The day before your tan)
- Shave all areas that you normally shave. DO NOT shave the day of the tan to prevent minor spotting.
- Exfoliate with a washcloth or one of our recommended skin products (this is not mandatory but will help).
Step 2 (The same day you receive your tan)
- DO NOT use any body lotion, body cream, make up or perfume the day you will be tanning.
- DO NOT shave the day of the tan to prevent minor spotting.
- DO NOT wax any areas of your body including your face the day the day of your tan.
- DO NOT put on any under arm deodorant (powders or lotions).
- Wear dark, loose fitting clothing (NO tight fitting clothing, socks, or tight fitting shoe apparel).
- Cotton clothing is optimal (tanning bronzer stains will wash out of most cotton clothing).
- Please bring a bathing suit or underwear or other suitable tanning attire.
STANDARD SPRAY TAN AFTERCARE
(Traditional Norvell Full Development Solution)
• Once your tan is applied, allow it to dry completely. We will ensure your application is fully dry before you leave.
• Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing after your appointment. Avoid anything tight or restrictive.
• Minor cosmetic bronzer rub-off is normal and will wash out of most clothing and bedding.
• Do not wet your skin for at least 8 hours after your tanning session. It is best to wait until the following morning before showering.
• Avoid showering, bathing, swimming, or any moisture exposure during development time. Your tan will last longer if you do not shower the same day.
• Avoid exercise, sweating, or excessive perspiration until the next day after your tan.
• Avoid touching, rubbing, or creating friction on freshly tanned skin.
• When you take your first shower, do not scrub your body with a washcloth or loofah. Use your hands with gentle soap only.
• Do not be concerned if some of the initial cosmetic bronzer washes off during your first rinse. This is part of the tanning process while your final color continues developing.
• Do not exfoliate for 7 days following your spray tan.
• Daily use of a Body Lotion or Tan Extender is recommended to extend the life of your results.
• Your tan will naturally fade over time and typically lasts 5–7 days depending on skincare and maintenance.
• Spray tans do not contain sunscreen and will not protect against the sun’s UV rays.
RAPID SPRAY TAN AFTERCARE
(Norvell Rapid Solution)
• Once your tan is applied, allow it to dry completely. We will ensure your application is fully dry before you leave.
• Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing after your appointment. Minor bronzer transfer is normal and washes out of most fabrics.
• Your rinse time depends on your desired depth of color:
Light Glow → Rinse after 1–2 hours
Medium Bronze → Rinse after 2–3 hours
Dark / Deep Bronze → Rinse after 3–4+ hours
• During development time, do not allow skin to get wet and avoid sweating, workouts, swimming, or excessive moisture.
• Avoid touching, rubbing, or creating friction on the skin while developing.
• At your first rinse, use warm water only.
Do NOT use soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, shave, or scrub.
• Do not be concerned when the cosmetic bronzer washes away during your rinse. This is expected and your tan will continue developing underneath.
• Your tan will continue developing for up to 24 hours after rinsing. Final color will deepen gradually.
• Wait 12–24 hours after rinsing before taking a full shower or using body products.
• Avoid exfoliating for 5–7 days after your spray tan.
• Daily use of Body Lotion or Tan Extender is recommended for longest-lasting results.
• Rapid tans typically last 5–7 days depending on skincare routine and maintenance.
• Rapid spray tans do not contain sunscreen and will not protect against the sun’s UV rays.
